Back in February 2023, I received the “Tefilat Ha-Adam”, the new Israeli Reform Siddur with English translations for Shabbat. It’s an incredible Siddur. I love the interpretations and ideas. I was joyfully flipping through the Siddur, and I cam upon the Blessing for Converts - how apropos!
When I read it, it brought me to tears because it spoke to the deep longings of my soul to be Jewish and welcomes me with love:
You are fortunate, O Yisrael.
You are fortunate that you have chosen the Jewish people.
We, the Jewish people, are fortunate that you have chosen us.
May the One who blessed our ancestors Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sarah, Rebeca, Leah and Rachel bless our sister Batsheva Peninna Ruth, the child of Abraham and Sarah as they find a safe haven under the wings of the Shekhinah, and become part of the precious heritage of the Jewish people, as they are now included among the righteous converts of our people.
May they succeed on this journey and see the blessings in all they do with all of their Jewish brothers and sisters.
And let us say, Amen.
